Gone, but Not Forgotten … and Now Back

In Site on 9/10/2009 by adam

We were offline for a few days due to a problem with our hosting provider. It looks like they needed to move our site to new hardware, at which point the entire blog stopped working. After some database tweaking — Really? They optimized our tables? — we’re back. We did lose our place in some standard Google searches, but hopefully we’ll swing back up to the top in short order now that all the links work again.

Did you miss us?

Iffy

In Site on 7/5/2009 by adam

After a couple years of gentle persuasion, I finally convinced colleagues at my former employer (and also alma mater) to kindly redirect a link that’s been rather popular for years — the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling — from my defunct personal home page there to a site I can maintain. If you’re here for that poem, I hope you’ll note the link on the sidebar under “Pages” and find a link at the bottom of that page to a clean, printable version. It’s a poem of great significance to me, and I was recently reminded of its importance following a confluence of events: 1) a posting referencing it at The Art of Manliness, 2) a reading of the poem during a church service on Father’s Day, and 3) reflection on that same day in light of my first year of fatherhood.

Google Analytics shows it’s one of the most popular pages on this site. That’s for good reason.

Okay, folks. I’ve had it up to *here* with spammy comments about “Texas Hold’em” and poker and what have you from various spambots. So, in a fit of pique, I dug into our blog database and deleted all the comments. Yes, even the good ones. So, if you’ve put comments into our blog before and they’re now gone, consider this an invitation to tell us what you really think about us. :)

Your Patience Has Been Rewarded

In Site on 2/14/2004 by adam

Hello there, all. After a long absence, AdamAndTiffy.com is back. Sort of. We’ve moved to a new ISP. In addition, we’re also experimenting with new weblogging software, WordPress, which we’ve used to replace MovableType. If you haven’t checked in on us in a while, well, you haven’t missed much. We hope to be back to regular updates shortly. If you’d like to be put on our mailing list and receive an automated message when we update our site, by all means please contact one of the proprietors.

Slackers!

In Home, Site on 1/6/2003 by adam

We’re weblog creating slackers. Haven’t updated since before Christmas. But, we do have a good excuse. We worked out butts off over break getting the house in shape. We have beautiful new ledges between our kitchen and living room and dining rooms. Our foyer and kitchen are painted. (Which is way more hassle then it sounds like. Really.) We’re tired, but happy to have so much done. ‘The break was very relaxing otherwise. It seemed both very long and also like it passed in two days. In addition to working we both did a lot of reading, Adam played lots of Spiderman on the Playstation and Tiffy played Zoo Tycoon on the PC. We also saw The Two Towers and Catch Me If You Can. Tiffy also took Emily and Kristen to see Two Weeks Notice which was underwhelming.

Tivo continues to be great fun. It seems to be getting more of a handle on what kind of tv we like to watch. It went through a phase where it was convinced we were a five year old boy with an anime fetish, but now it has settled in to taping lots of cooking and travel shows which is fine by us.

Back at work today. But, at least we can look out the window at the very pretty snow….

Revamp

In Site on 12/22/2002 by adam

In a fit of craziness, I have revamped our vanity web site. All in all, it took a couple days. It was a fun project, and I actually learned quite a bit. If you’re interested in receiving a notification about future site changes or new weblog entries, send us a note.

‘The site redesign was motivated by several factors, including but not limited to:

  • A desire to remove some of our site’s staleness
  • Wanting to make the content easier to manage
  • Interest in experimenting with tools that might be useful at work
  • Needing more purple because Tiffy likes purple
  • Needing something to do because Tiffy has the flu (with temp 101.6 degrees)

The most fun part was configuring a couple web apps. Moveable Type and Gallery should make everything easier to maintain. The least fun part? Messing around with cascading stylesheets. But, I’m hoping that will improve the quality of my life somewhat.
