Addiction

In Entertainment,Geek on 8/7/2003 by adam

Quite sorry to have taken such a long break from the weblogging folks. In addition to the regular pieces that go into living a life — you know: jobs, meals, house, pets, and so on — we’ve found a new way to melt time as if it were ice in the desert.

If you haven’t played Star Wars Galaxies yet, maybe it’s best avoided. Really. Because … human beings should not be allowed to have this much fun! Woo! As Tiffy says, “Star Wars Galaxies got everything right that Sims Online got wrong.” It’s adventurous, dangerous, fun, and you get to make new friends and see your old friends in a new light, all while engaging in some fantastic wish fulfillment.

We’re in the Radiant galaxy on Corellia at the moment. If you know us, send e-mail and we’ll tell you who and where we are. If none of this makes sense to you, I wouldn’t worry about it. :-)

Another Year Over

In Entertainment,Family,Geek on 1/29/2003 by adam

I had a fabulous birthday this year. Truth be told, I got a present early, so I was in a particularly good mood. Tiffy, in a fit of briliance, got me a home theater
system that rocks almost as much as she does! Luckily, because of various logistical issues, I got it a day early. Also, before I’d even gotten out of bed, she
presented me with a neat addition to my geeky wardrobe .

If only I’d taken the day off work. I’ll have to remember that for next year. But we did have a small, casual party later in which I was the receiver of much loot. Woo hoo!

Tivo Update

In Entertainment,Geek on 12/21/2002 by adam

We’ve had a lot of fun so far with our new toy. After configuring it to automatically record a bunch of our favorite shows, we noticed a couple interesting side effects. Apparently, Tivo looks at your current wish list of programs and looks around for programs that it thinks you would be interested in. While we were sleeping, our new gadget decided that it would record an episode of The Twilight Zone for us. That was kind of neat. It wasn’t so neat when we noticed the next program it had suggested for us: CHiPS. Thumbs down to that.

Merry Chrismas to Us!

In Entertainment,Geek on 12/19/2002 by adam

It’s a few days early, but we (mostly Adam) couldn’t wait to open our mutual present. Tivo is awesome! And it’s Linux-based, which means that we can hold our geeky heads up high. And no more missing episodes of Buffy or Gilmore Girls for us ’cause we’re out having fun. Marvelous!
