Roughing It

In Family,Vacation on 6/14/2005 by adam

That is to say, because of Tiffy, we won’t have to! We have a trip planned with her family to visit Yellowstone and other national parks this August. It’s taken everybody awhile to agree on a plan, but now that we know it, Tiffy’s made virtually all our hotel arrangements overnight. (Yay! No sleeping in the car!) We’ll get to enjoy a wide variety of great American accomodations, including the Best Western, Econo Lodge, Holiday Inn, La Quinta, the Ouray Chalet Inn, and the Hotel Monaco. I was really hoping we could work in a Motel 6 or a Super 8, but alas, it was not to be. Also, unfortunately, there are no creepy hotel rooms available in the Silverton, Colorado, which is where we’ll be touring a cluster of ghost towns. I was really hoping to have some kind of Scooby Doo style adventure and foil an old prospector in a glowing costume. Us darn kids!

  1. Actually, we are staying at the Super 8 in Winter Park, CO! Your wish has been granted.
There are lots of people going on this trip with very different budgets so we were looking cheap the whole way.
The craziest thing is the Winter Park Super 8 is the most expensive place we are staying! It’s insane. It’s even more expensive than the swanky downtown Salt Lake City place. I am feeling outraged by this and am looking everywhere for a more budget minded hotel in that location.

  2. A scooby-doo theme motel. I think you’ve hit upon a future business plan.

  3. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I can’t believe it’s been seven years since you two crazy kids tied the knot.

  4. OK, sorry, I commented to the wrong post above. On a more related note – it sounds like a great vacation. When planning your next vacation, please do remember that California has many affordable hotels, and even a couple of friends with a guest room. And Disneyland!
